Oliver Münch · Dresden
I help people who have to decide to see clearly.
My path led from mathematics through IT to working with people who carry responsibility. What comes together in it is a double perspective: for the plain logic of a decision, and for what that decision sets in motion in the person taking it.
My path
I worked with numbers and systems for a long time before I began working with people.
I studied business mathematics at the Technische Universität Dresden (Dresden University of Technology). Almost two decades at the university followed, in which I moved from IT into leadership and management roles. I learned how to bring order into complex systems, and equally that no system works without the people who hold it up.
That is the point where my path shifted. The longer I carried responsibility, the clearer it became that the difficult questions are rarely purely technical ones. They rest on people, on roles, on expectations. Since 2022 I have worked independently in exactly that place: alongside people who have to decide, and alongside the systems they stand in.
That background remains how I approach the work. I take the figures seriously, and the instinct as well. I see the structure of a situation and the people inside it. The two together are rare, and that is where my contribution lies.
What I do and do not do
I do not supply answers. I strengthen the ability to find them. In German I call this being a "systemischer Befähiger" – someone who builds up the capacity of others to decide and to act for themselves, rather than deciding in their place. The second half of that stance is where I look while doing it: not at the single symptom, but at the pattern it sits in, and at the people and relationships it hangs on.
For you this means that you do not leave with my answer, but with your own, thought through. In case of doubt that one lasts longer, because it is yours and not mine.
Training & qualifications
My systemic work rests on formal training. The professional ground beneath it is a diploma in business mathematics and almost two decades at the Technische Universität Dresden, in which I prepared decisions for a large organisation, led teams and started out in IT.
- 2023Training in Systemisches Business Coaching (systemic business coaching), Kindler Coaching Dresden
- 2022Facilitator training, Kommunikationslotsen
- 2004Diplom in business mathematics, Technische Universität Dresden
Where I stand today
Alongside the work with individuals, I teach what I do. I hold a teaching assignment in project management at the Duale Hochschule Sachsen and run training courses for the DVGW and for it-Trainingshaus Dresden, from communication through project management to sustainable IT management.
Teaching keeps me close to practice and to the questions that genuinely occupy people in positions of responsibility. What I encounter in the seminar room flows back into the work with clients, and the other way round.
Let us get to know each other.
Whether it is sparring for a decision ahead of you or working together over a longer period, the first step is always a confidential conversation. In it we look at what the matter is actually about, and whether I am the right person for it. There is no charge for this conversation.
